Manufactured Homes are built entirely in the factory, transported to the site, and installed under a federal building codes. These standards regulate manufactured housing design and construction, strength and durability, transportability, fire resistance, energy efficiency and quality. The code also sets standards for the heating, plumbing, air conditioning, thermal and electrical systems.

Manufactured HUD Homes are only allowed in mobile home parks or land zoned for manufactured housing. These homes are not built to the IRC standards and have strict regulations on where they can be placed.
